Ryan Daut plays online at Full Tilt Poker.
Like a lot of young men, Ryan first started playing poker with friends during college. As his interest in the game increased, he decided to take a shot at playing online poker. He rapidly developed into a formidable player, becoming a dominant force in tournaments and a diversely talented ring-game player. Because of this success, Ryan was chosen as CardRunners founder Taylor Caby’s protégé in 2006. Given this opportunity, he chose to put academics on hold in order to become a full-time poker player.
One of the most impressive aspects of Ryan’s career has been his easy transition between successful online and live play – few other online tournament players have accomplished this in such a seamless manner. As clear evidence of this, Ryan’s strongest tournament performance to date was also his first. At 22 years of age, he worked his way through a starting field of 937 players to take home $1.5 million for winning the 2007 WPT $7.8K No-Limit Hold ‘em Championship Event.
Later in 2007, Ryan had a deep run in the WPT Mandalay Bay Poker Championship along with making the final table of the WPT $15K Doyle Brunson Classic, finishing sixth for a nice payday of more than $190K. He’s also fared well at the World Series of Poker, cashing a total of four times in 2007 and 2008.
Away from the felt, Ryan’s a big sports fan both as an observer and a participant. A former high school athlete, he still enjoys playing and watching football, baseball and tennis.
